Plans for Growth

More partnerships with outside agencies/ organizations to benefit kids

We seek to develop working partnerships with Casa de la Raza, the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and the Community Action Commission, while continuing to foster the relationships that exist with Westmont College, YMCA, Parks & Rec, Young Life, and local churches

Feeding program

We seek to create a co-op food bank for families in nearby trailer parks. The co-op will be run by the families in the park for families in the neighborhood. The SB Food Bank and Pura Vida Church will act as our partners. Rather than a “hand out” line we seek to provide dignity to the families by giving them ownership of the project.

Tutoring / More direct support in schools

We want to partner with local universities to improve and support already existing programs on the various school campuses our kids attend. We don’t want to start a new program – just support and thus improve what is already in place.

Group counseling for older kids

We plan to create accountability groups for kids. These groups will center on bible study group as well as a inner healing in their lives.

Partnerships with counseling agencies

We seek to connect families with counseling services to help them deal with some of the real issues that plague the family. This could be anything from drug or alcohol addiction to domestic violence to past abuse suffered. We desire to see healing in the families so they can really thrive and live they life they were created for.

Parenting classes

We would like to fund classes for groups of parents lead by a trained parent educator. The classes would be offered in Spanish and the families would meet for 8-10 weeks and discuss different issues they are facing raising children in poverty with the threat of gangs so prevalent. Our desire is to create community for these families – where they can be a support to each other once the classes are over.
